Info Leaflet 2016-2017

(The Info Leaflet will be updated and published in the beginning of the school year 2017-2018.)

Welcome to a New School Year!

As yet another school year has started, we turn our attention to school work and to some specific themes this year.  One of those themes is Communal Wellbeing, which is something that affects the students as well as the whole school community. Students will discuss this topic during lessons with their homeroom teacher and during specific theme days. This year the most important themes for us are listening to the students and making sure that their opinions are heard. We also want to ensure that they understand and appreciate cultural diversity. In addition, we want to improve their learning abilities throughout the school year.

Finnish basic education is going through some substantial changes, and this will be notable in our school as well. With the renewal of the core curriculum of Finnish basic education and its implementation this autumn, each grade will have two multidisciplinary study units, of which the first one will focus on wellbeing and the second one on the contents of school subjects and teaching.

Starting this autumn term, we are organizing Parents’ Evenings on all grade levels. These evenings are meant for both the students and their guardians, and they are intended to be a platform for open discussion concerning school and classroom matters. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

On behalf of all school personnel, we wish everyone an enjoyable school year!
